This, watchfans, is rare. The mythical Seiko 7005-8030 'MACV-SOG' watch in absolutely stunning condition. The myths surrounding this model from Seiko are immense, as it was, rumor has it, ordered exclusively by the US MACV-SOG group to its special operations soldiers during the Vietnam war. All other versions of the Seiko 7005 are without numerals.
This watch is featured in writings by Dan Clayton on 2 Clicks, Fratello watches, 60 clicks and the unravelling of its details can be found in the Seiko/Citizen watch site forums. To put it bluntly, if you are into watches used by armed services, this is about as good as it gets.
The watch itself is in stunning condition, no deep scratches on the case and only minor wear on the crystal. The hands are perfectly lumed and the numerals are all completely intact. This specimen is in absolutely fantastic condition - no signs of humidity or anything else, also the black dial is still deep and alluring.
The movement is an automatic 7005 from Seiko, the seconds hand is very smooth and as it's quite long, it gives a visually very satisfying sweep. A real stunner!
I have no knowledge or confirmation that this particular piece was actually in Vietnam.
PLEASE READ THE BUYERS GUIDE BEFORE PURCHASING. THANK YOU.
